Rise Against Hunger is an international hunger relief organization that coordinates food distribution and other life-saving aid around the world, with the goal of ending hunger worldwide by 2030.

Our church participates annually toward this effort by hosting a Rise Against Hunger Meal Packing Event. Fundraising takes place throughout the year to cover the cost of the food. On the Martin Luther King Day of Service we host many volunteers to pack thousands of dehydrated, high protein, and highly nutritious meals to be distributed to countries in need around the world. They are used in crisis situations, school feeding programs, and orphanages in developing countries around the world. The meal packing events are fun, rewarding events with jobs for volunteers of all ages and abilities.

Our 2026 Meal Packing event will be held on Monday, January 19, from 9 - 11 am in the Fiesta Center at the United Methodist Church of West Chester. Volunteers will also be needed before the event to help unpack the trucks and set up, and after the event to help with clean-up.

Please use the link below to register online. You may also make a donation at this link to help support the cost of the meals.

We look forward to seeing everyone on January 19!

2025 Meal Packing Event

Thank you to the many volunteers who came out to pack meals at our 2025 Meal Packing Event. With your help and with the generous donations we were able to pack 35,000 meals to be distributed around the world to those in need.

Since the event we were notified that the meals we packed are being shipped to Zambia. Thank you to all who participated! Zambia, a landlocked South African country, has a population of over 20 million people, where almost 55% of the population makes a living by working in agriculture. The World Food Program notes that due to El Nino weather conditions and sensitivity to rainfall, many regions of Zambia are considered hunger hot spots. The Global Hunger Index, which assesses food insecurity based on indicators that measure undernourishment and undernutrition, categorizes Zambia as having a “serious” level of hunger.
